{"id":2017,"date":"2019-12-27T17:28:23","date_gmt":"2019-12-28T00:28:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/artistedancediva.co.uk\/wp\/?p=2017"},"modified":"2021-01-19T06:12:07","modified_gmt":"2021-01-19T13:12:07","slug":"smartdancer-112-animations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/artistedancediva.co.uk\/wp\/?p=2017","title":{"rendered":"SmartDancer 112 &#8211; Animations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/artistedancediva.co.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/ArtisteSDWeave.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2029\" src=\"http:\/\/artistedancediva.co.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/ArtisteSDWeave.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1637\" height=\"847\" srcset=\"https:\/\/artistedancediva.co.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/ArtisteSDWeave.png 1637w, https:\/\/artistedancediva.co.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/ArtisteSDWeave-300x155.png 300w, https:\/\/artistedancediva.co.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/ArtisteSDWeave-768x397.png 768w, https:\/\/artistedancediva.co.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/ArtisteSDWeave-1024x530.png 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1637px) 100vw, 1637px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Order to Chaos to Order<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That to me is the key to creation.<\/p>\n<p>And to me its the key to captivating group-choreography.\u00a0 I have seen it in drill-teams as well as in the arts and in nature.<\/p>\n<p>For SmartDancer (SD) a key component is being able to <strong>segue<\/strong> <strong>back<\/strong> into an orderly formation from a more disordered formation.\u00a0 This requires an in-depth knowledge of how SD perceives animations to work.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>The key is to have a 1st animation running that we can return back to after performing a 2nd animation.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>If we STOP the 2nd animation then it will automatically SNAP back in sync with the 1st animation.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>There are a few tools at our disposal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>StartKill<\/strong> and <strong>StartKeep<br \/>\nStopLast<br \/>\nFreeze and UnFreeze<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/artistedancediva.co.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/SmartDancerStopsMenu.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2026\" src=\"http:\/\/artistedancediva.co.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/SmartDancerStopsMenu.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"346\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/artistedancediva.co.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/SmartDancerStopsMenu.png 346w, https:\/\/artistedancediva.co.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/SmartDancerStopsMenu-198x300.png 198w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 346px) 100vw, 346px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Assume we have 4 dances called Dance1, Dance2, Dance3 and Dance4<\/p>\n<p>********************<br \/>\n<strong>StartKill<\/strong> mode, which is the default, will cause the following to happen:<\/p>\n<p><em>Dance1 runs<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Dance1 is stopped when Dance2 runs<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Dance2 is stopped when Dance3 runs<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Dance3 is stopped when Dance4 runs<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Then if we press <strong>StopLast<\/strong>, Dance4 stops and our dancer returns to <strong>STANDING<\/strong>\u00a0(or the <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">standinganimation<\/span><\/strong>, because there are no more animations running.\u00a0 (Actually the standing animation is the 1st animation to run by default)<\/p>\n<p>********************<br \/>\n<strong>StartKeep<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Dance1 runs<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Dance2 runs (Dance1 is still running)<br \/>\nDance3 runs (Dance1, &amp; Dance2 are still running)<br \/>\nDance4 runs (Dance1, &amp; Dance2, Dance3 are still running)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>If we press <strong>StopLast<\/strong>,\u00a0 then <strong>Dance4<\/strong> will stop and <strong>Dance3<\/strong> will be running.\u00a0 If we press <strong>StopLast<\/strong> again, <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">nothing<\/span> <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">changes<\/span><\/strong>.\u00a0 SD only remembers the <strong>last dance<\/strong>. You do have some extended control if dances are assigned to multiple Divisions. You can stop dances by Division (A,B,C,D) but only 1 dance per Division.<\/p>\n<p>********************<br \/>\n<strong>Canons<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I like to think of SD as having &#8216;<strong>2 trains<\/strong>&#8216;. The <strong>normal-animation<\/strong> train and the<strong> Canon-animation<\/strong> train.<\/p>\n<p>When you perform an animation on the <strong>Canon train<\/strong>, it <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>automatically<\/strong> <\/span>returns to the previously running animation from the <strong>normal-animation<\/strong> train,&#8230;when it is <em>done<\/em>. Canon animations run as long as the <strong>CanonInterval (aka CanonDuration)<\/strong>\u00a0specifies.<\/p>\n<p>We want to be able to emulate the way that the <strong>SD<\/strong> <strong>Canon<\/strong> works using the normal-animation method, that being&#8230;pressing dance buttons in succession, or sending them via commands to the SD sequencer.<\/p>\n<p>********************<\/p>\n<p><strong>Freeze<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Dance1 runs\u00a0 (this becomes\u00a0 the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">current backing animation<\/span>)<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> Dance2 runs\u00a0<em>(this becomes\u00a0 the NEW\u00a0 current backing animation)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lets say we plan to do Dance3 and Dance4 and then a Canon.\u00a0 When the Canon ends, we wish to revert back to Dance2.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>We issue a FREEZE Command right after Dance2 runs.\u00a0 And then Dance2 becomes the <em>FROZEN <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">semi-permanent backing animation<\/span>.\u00a0 No further animations will replace it unless and until we issue an UNFREEZE command.\u00a0<\/em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> StartKeep and Freeze work hand-in-hand together.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Trace,0ff<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> ElapsedOrDuration,duration<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> 1,Dance,dance1 | 10<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> 2,Dance,dance2 | 10<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #008000;\">3,StartKeep | 0.1<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong> 4,Freeze | 0.1<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<strong> 5,Dance,dance3 | 15<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> 6,Dance,dance4 | 15<\/strong><br \/>\n<b>7,StopLast | 0.1<br \/>\n8,Wait,10 | 10<\/p>\n<p><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Upon executing the <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">StopLast<\/span> <\/strong>command, the dancers will revert back to <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">dance2<\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>********************<br \/>\n<strong>Normal-Animation Segueing\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Order to Chaos to Order That to me is the key to creation.
